10th November 1935 – 20th May 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Christos who passed peacefully away on 20th May after battling Dementia followed by a short illness. Christos came to the UK in 1954 from his native Cyprus. He had just £10 in his pocket and a small suitcase which contained a few clothes and his hairdressing kit. He started work on the Cruise ships sailing out of London at the time as a hairdresser, and travelled the world providing hairdressing services to the cruise ship passengers. He met Margaret at the Hammersmith Palais, and they married in 1963.
Christos had saved every penny of his pay and had ambition. In 1968 he and Margaret moved to the new town of Milton Keynes where he opened his first salon in Wolverton. He worked tirelessly to build a successful business and expanded to Newport Pagnell. For over 50 years the business started from such humble origins has been providing attentive and professional hairdressing services to the people of Milton Keynes.
Christos opened Hair & Beauty salons in Wolverton/Stony Stratford And Newport Pagnell. He was particularly proud of the patient haircare work that looked after the cancer patients & teenage children with hair loss. His loved his family, wife Margaret, Mark Alison and his grandchildren Jo, Alex & Louise. He loved his work and all of his clients.
Christos’s funeral which takes place at Crownhill Crematorium at 2pm on Tuesday 4th June. All who knew him are very welcome to attend and following at the Swan Revived Hotel Newport Pagnell.
Christos Hair Salon in Newport Pagnell has an enviable reputation for quality and care and we are rated in the top 1% of independent salons in the UK, not just in revenue but also in staff and we are looking to add to our successful team.

Christmas is looming on the horizon and it is that age old battle of what do we get for our nearest and dearest.
Well on 6th December the wonderful MoochiMoo will have a pop up shop within Christos to bring you some truly beautiful clothing and accessories that you will not find on the high street.
So whether you are looking for a stunning sweater for yourself or a cosy hat to beat the winter winds, pop in and take a look at the collection.
Of course we will also have all our beautiful haircare and gents grooming giftsets available too, with some wonderful special offers.
The refurbishment is reaching its final stages and we are all getting ready to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
There have certainly been some challenges along the way but we have looked upon these as part of the adventure, thanks to our wonderful clients you have supported and encouraged us through these.
The barber shop is now fully up and running back in the main shop, we have a gorgeous new reception desk and a comfortable waiting area for you.
Here are a few pictures we wanted to share with you, but please do pop in and see for yourself.
We are one week into our salon refurbishment and are excited to see the work underway as we create a wonderful new salon especially for you.
It is still business as usual and we have a temporary entrance via Union Street, just follow the signs and you will soon be greeted by our popup barber shop.
The great news is that the air con is working, the tea (or something cooler in this weather) is flowing and all our stylists are on hand to get you looking fabulous this summer.
Key highlights for the works include;
– Barbering services are business as usual with appointments and drop ins available with Steph, Cad and Mark. Don’t forget we have late night opening on Thursday too.
– All colour, cutting and speciality services remain the same and we have some availability throughout July and August to get you ready for your holidays.
– We have some availability for prom and festival hair but spaces are booking up fast so please get in touch.
– Patient Hair Care is open as usual and we have added two additional late nights on Monday and Tuesday for all clients that are experiencing hair loss or hair thinning.
This refurbishment is the result of the feedback from our clients and team and will incorporate many of the ideas that they have shared. We would like to reassure you that the renovation costs will be funded by Christos and you will not see any price increases to our services as a result of the refurbishment.
Thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you in the salon soon.

Finally we can go into summer with these amazing new Moroccan oil texture products. Designed to help create volume, beach waves and root support.
We have been trialing out these products in the salon this week and we’re liking what we see 🙂
Firstly, we have been using the Texture Clay, its moldable ability defines and sculptures the hair to create a strong hold and matte finish. Great for the men but also for the ladies we have found a small amount on dry wavy/curled hair can roughen up the hair and make it look more casual. Ingredients include, shea butter, argan oil and bentonite clay.
Secondly, we have the Beach Wave Mousse, for long lasting beach hair at anytime of the year. It is designed to provide tousled texture while keeping the hair hydrated at the same time. We have found that the mousse needs a really good shake before using as the oil is in twined with the mousse so can come out a bit runny. For best results air-dry or diffuse hair.
Thirdly, the Dry Texture Spray is infused with argan oil it helps create effortless undone styles but with a long lasting hold. We have found that spraying it in at the roots (not too close to the scalp) can help build a foundation and a bit of grit for backcombing or hair up, if you struggle to get volume in your hair this spray will help achieve it.
